How long have Williams Windows & Doors been in business?

We were established in 1996 — celebrating 30 years manufacturing and installing windows and doors from our Clydebank factory.

Where are you based and what areas do you cover?

We're based at 60 Beardmore Way, Clydebank, G81 4HT. We manufacture all our products in our own on-site factory and install across the whole of Glasgow and the West of Scotland, including Bearsden, Milngavie, Dumbarton, Helensburgh, Paisley, and Renfrewshire (and more).

How can I start my buying journey with you?

Starting your journey with Williams Windows and Doors is easy. Begin by exploring our range of products on our website or contact our office via phone or email to schedule a consultation. A dedicated sales representative will then meet with you to understand your needs and provide a quote. After you accept the quote, we will conduct a detailed survey and proceed with the installation, ensuring a seamless experience from start to finish.

How does the consultation process work?

Our initial consultation process usually takes around 15 minutes and is designed to be straightforward and convenient. Once you contact us, our design expert will schedule a meeting at your home within a few days. During this visit, we discuss your requirements, provide product recommendations, and offer an initial quote, which we’ll also email to you. This personalised approach ensures that we fully understand your needs and can offer tailored solutions to enhance your home.

How do you ensure the accuracy of your project measurements?

Accuracy in measurements is crucial for a successful installation. After you approve the initial quote, we schedule a detailed survey of your property. This usually takes place within a few days of your order confirmation. Our surveyors will take precise measurements and discuss any specific requirements to ensure that all products are made to fit perfectly and that the installation process proceeds smoothly.

What should I expect during the installation process?

The installation process typically begins around six weeks after your order confirmation. Our expert team ensures meticulous attention to detail from start to finish. We handle everything from preparing the site to installing and finishing your new windows, doors, or conservatory roof. Our goal is to minimise disruption to your daily life while delivering exceptional craftsmanship and a clean, professional finish..

Do you provide guarantees on your installations?

Yes, all our installations come with a comprehensive 10-year guarantee. This covers the quality of our craftsmanship and the durability of our products. As a FENSA approved installer, we stand by the excellence of our work and materials, ensuring you have peace of mind knowing that your investment is protected against defects and issues, and you will receive prompt support should any problems arise.

What makes your company eco-friendly?

We are committed to sustainability through several eco-friendly practices. These include comprehensive waste recycling during manufacturing and installation, using ethically sourced materials, and producing windows and doors with superior thermal performance to reduce energy consumption. Additionally, we have an ambitious plan to reach net zero emissions by 2035, reflecting our dedication to reducing our environmental impact and supporting a greener future.

Are your products made in the UK?

Yes, all our windows and doors are proudly manufactured in the UK. This allows us to maintain stringent quality control and offer superior craftsmanship. By keeping production local, we support the UK economy and reduce our carbon footprint associated with long-distance transportation, ensuring that you receive high-quality products with reduced environmental impact. Our suppliers are also UK businesses, and we buy local as much as we can.

How much do new windows cost in Glasgow?

Prices vary depending on style, material, size and glazing specification. As a guide, uPVC casement windows start from around £400 installed, rising to £700+ for larger or more complex styles. Aluminium windows typically cost 25–50% more. We publish a full honest price guide in our Advice Hub, and all quotes are free with no obligation.

Do you offer free quotes?

Yes — we offer free no-obligation design visits where one of our team will visit your property, take measurements, discuss options, and provide a fully itemised written quote. There's no pressure to proceed.

What VAT rate applies to window and door installation?

Standard window and door replacement is subject to VAT at 20%. Some specialist work such as conversions of empty properties may qualify for the reduced 5% rate — we'll always confirm the applicable rate on your quote.

What is the difference between uPVC and aluminium windows?

uPVC is the most popular and cost-effective choice, offering excellent thermal performance and very low maintenance. Aluminium costs more but offers slimmer frames, a longer lifespan of 40–50 years, and suits larger glazed areas and contemporary designs. We manufacture both at our Clydebank factory.

Do you manufacture your own windows and doors?

Yes — unlike most window companies in Glasgow who buy in from national fabricators, we design and manufacture our products in our own factory in Clydebank. This gives us greater quality control, more flexibility on bespoke specifications, and more competitive pricing.

How long does installation take?

Most standard installations take between half a day and two days depending on the number of windows and doors. A full house replacement of 10–14 windows typically takes 2–3 days. We'll confirm a timeframe when we survey your property.

What guarantee do you offer?

All our products come with a 10-year guarantee as standard. The only exception is coloured composite door slabs, which come with a 5 year guarantee.

Do I need planning permission to replace my windows?

In most cases, no. Replacing windows with similar ones is classed as permitted development in Scotland. However, if your property is listed or in a conservation area, you may need consent. We'll advise you during your free design visit.

Do you carry out window and door repairs?

Yes — we repair all types of uPVC, aluminium and composite windows and doors, including broken double glazed units, failed handles and hinges, damaged frames, and misted glass. We serve both homeowners and landlords across Glasgow and the West of Scotland.

My window is misted between the panes — do I need a full replacement?

Not necessarily. Misted glass is caused by a failed seal in the double glazed unit. In most cases we can replace just the glass unit rather than the entire frame, which is significantly cheaper. Get in touch and we'll assess whether a unit replacement or full window replacement is the right solution.
